Sharron Young, Chair

Sharron Young has always strived to work with First Nations people, which directed her degree and studies at UBC.  For a short time, Sharron worked in Stó:lō Nation’s Halq’eméylem and Taxation departments; however,  for the past decade, Sharron has furthered her career in her community of Sq'ewá:lxw First Nation.

In her career, Sharron’s experience and focus is mostly on administration and finance, so being a part of this board is a new experience for her, and she looks forward to learning from others in this journey.

Sharron would like to recognize her greatest blessing and accomplishment – her family. After being married for eleven years to her high school sweetheart and having two daughters, Sharron believes the majority of her experience has come from them.

Rhianna Millman, Vice-Chair

Rhianna was raised in Chilliwack and graduated high school from Chilliwack Secondary School. After graduation she worked for Fraser Health Authority for a number of years before starting with the City of Chilliwack, where she is the Confidential Secretary to the Director of Operations.

Being a natural people person, her passion has always been to work with and help others. Whether it is supporting individuals with developmental disabilities as a Community Support Worker, or providing assistance in crisis situations as a member of the Critical Incident Stress Management team, having the opportunity to make a difference in others’ lives is what she finds to be most rewarding in hers. Naturally her love for people and business made her decision to pursue an education in Human Resources, Leadership and Conflict Resolution seamless.

Rhianna is of Metis descent and has always felt a deep connection to her indigenous roots. She prides herself in being a strong advocate for inclusion, creating awareness, and promotes building and maintaining social capital

Rhianna lives in Chilliwack with her partner of 15 years, Paul. They are caregivers to a young man with developmental disabilities and have two furkids, Pedro and Willow. In her spare time you can find her traveling around the USA watching her brother play her favorite sport, baseball. If she’s not at the ball park, she’s enjoying time with family and friends. 

Rhianna is extremely excited for the opportunity to form a part of the Stó:lō Service Agency Board of Directors, and continuing her passion of helping others and giving back to the community.

Angela Kermer, Board Member

Angie is from Leq’a:mel, Squamish, and Haida Gwaii.  Her father was George Campo and her mother is Louise Campo.  Her grandparents were Pat and Duke Campo, and Blanche Marks and Andrew Yorke.  She has been married to Brian for 24 years, has two brothers, Lance and Paul, and two dogs.

When living at Leq’a:mel, Brian and Angie were active in the Stó:lō community through sports, culture, and Angie being on council for a time. 

Angie obtained her Bachelor of Arts in General Studies from SFU, and has studied hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ at UBC.  Angie was employed by the Correctional Service Canada before joining the Royal Canadian Mounted police in 1999.  She has worked in First Nations Policing, General Duty, Youth Intervention, and Aboriginal Gang Awareness in Port Hardy, North Vancouver, and at RCMP Headquarters in BC. 

Angie is currently taking her Masters of Arts in Leadership at Royal Roads University, and likes blending her cultural and academic teachings in her police and board work.

Jessie N. Ramsay, Board Member

Jessie Ramsay is Métis and grew up in Chilliwack, BC. After graduating high school, Jessie attended the University of British Columbia obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Psychology and minoring in First Nations studies.  Upon completion of her BA Jessie remained at UBC and began law school at Allard School of Law. Jessie graduated with her Juris Doctorate Degree in 2014 and shortly thereafter returned home to begin her career as a lawyer at Baker Newby LLP. Jessie joined the Baker Newby LLP partnership in July, 2019.

Jessie has always had an affinity for helping people and this has shaped not only her career but her life. Upon returning home after law school, Jessie immediately became involved in the broader Chilliwack community. In 2014 and 2015, Jessie joined the Boards of Directors for Stó:lō Community Futures and Chilliwack Community Services. As a current Director for each of these organizations, Jessie not only provides assistance at a governance level but is also involved with the programing and services provided.  Jessie is honoured and excited to join the Stó:lō Service Agency Board of Directors and remains committed to continue giving back to this wonderful community she calls home.

For Jessie, family is extremely important, and this influenced her decision to move back to Chilliwack after eight short years at UBC. Being close to her loved ones has always been an important value to her and one which she does not take for granted. In her spare time Jessie tries her best at golf and takes time to enjoy the beautiful outdoor opportunities that Chilliwack and its surrounding areas offers.
